Terms of Service
Last updated: October 14, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Wovenleaf ("Wovenleaf," "we," "us," or "our"), including our website, the books and stories our service creates, and any digital or printed copies you order. By starting a book, adding an entry, or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Wovenleaf.
1. What Wovenleaf is
Wovenleaf helps people turn photos and memories into an illustrated book. A "memory book" is created by one person (the "creator") who invites others ("contributors") to add a photo and a short memory using a shared link — this includes themed variants like a year-in-review book. When offered, a "pet story" is a story about someone's pet, written and illustrated for the creator alone. We use third-party AI tools to turn photos into illustrations and to help write and polish the text, and third-party services to process payments, send email, and print physical copies. Section 5 explains this in more detail.
2. Accounts
Creators need an account to start and manage a book. Contributors do not — adding an entry only requires the link the creator shares with you. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account.
3. Content you provide
3.1 Your responsibilities
By uploading a photo or writing a memory, you confirm that:
- You own the photo, or you have the permission of whoever does, to upload it and to have it appear in a book — including in any digital or printed copies that get ordered, by the creator or by anyone else with the read link.
- If the photo shows someone else, you have their permission (or, if they're a minor, the permission of their parent or guardian) to share it for this purpose.
- What you upload doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, privacy, or other rights, and isn't unlawful, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate.
You're solely responsible for the content you contribute. If a claim is made against us because content you provided didn't actually have the rights or permissions above, you agree to reimburse us for any resulting losses, damages, and reasonable legal costs.
3.2 The license you grant us
You keep ownership of what you submit. To make the book, you grant Wovenleaf a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, adapt (including generating illustrations and written passages from it), display it to people holding the relevant link, and print and reproduce it in the copies that get ordered. This license lasts as long as we need it to provide the service and fulfil orders already placed.
3.3 AI processing
Photos and written memories are sent to third-party AI providers to generate illustrations and story text. AI output can be imperfect — an illustration may not resemble the photo exactly, and generated text is meant as a starting point, which creators and contributors can edit before a book is finalised. We don't guarantee the accuracy, likeness, or quality of AI-generated content.
4. Prohibited content
You may not use Wovenleaf to create or share content that:
- Is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or hateful;
- Infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy;
- Depicts a minor in a sexualised or exploitative way;
- Impersonates someone or misrepresents your relationship to the people or events depicted.
We may remove content or close an account that violates this section, without a refund for anything already paid.
5. Purchases
5.1 Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars at checkout, before any applicable sales tax — our payment processor calculates tax based on your location and adds it to the total you're charged. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; we never see or store your full card number. A promotional or discount code, where offered, applies only as described at the time it's used.
5.2 Digital copies
A digital copy gives you a permanent link to read the book online and download a PDF. That link doesn't expire on our end, but we can't guarantee the service will exist forever — see Section 9.
5.3 Printed copies
Printed copies are produced and shipped by an independent print-on-demand partner — we don't print books ourselves. Production and shipping times shown to you are estimates, not guarantees. We currently ship printed copies only to the countries offered at checkout.
5.4 Returns and refunds
Because every book is personalised, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. If your printed copy arrives damaged, misprinted, or materially different from what was ordered, contact us at hello@wovenleaf.store within 30 days of delivery and we'll make it right — typically a reprint or a refund.
6. Our intellectual property
The Wovenleaf name, logo, website, and software are ours. Nothing in these Terms gives you rights to them beyond using the service as intended. This is separate from your content, which Section 3 covers.
7. Disclaimers
Wovenleaf is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will meet your expectations.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Wovenleaf's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the six months before the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You can stop using Wovenleaf at any time. We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms, or discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably possible. Copies already purchased and delivered aren't affected by a later account closure.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the revised version here with an updated date; continuing to use Wovenleaf after a change means you accept it.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of British Columbia, unless a mandatory consumer- protection law where you live says otherwise.
